Dean Jane Kirschling and Dr. Mary Regan, chair of UMSON's Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) Committee will host an information session for faculty to review changes recently approved by the University System of Maryland to UMSON's Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) Policy. For this academic year only, faculty who intend to pursue a tenure-track position, seek promotion and/or tenure review, or transition from non-tenure to tenure-track, will have the option to decide whether they wish to be considered under the 2013 policy or the new 2020 policy. Effective with Academic Year 2021-22, all promotion and tenure determinations will be made in accordance with the 2020 revised policy.

The session will provide a high-level description of the underlying rationale for changes, outline key distinctions between the old and new policies, and highlight key decision points that faculty need to consider in determining whether to opt for the 2103 or 2020 policy during the current academic year. The session will be recorded and made available for those unable to attend this forum.

Both the 2013 and the 2020 policies can be found on the UMSON Intrant under APT Committee, Additional Materials for Faculty or via the links below:
