Looking for a way to get involved with sustainability on the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) campus? Join one of our four sustainability working groups! Working groups are open to students, staff, and faculty at UMB. We aim for these working groups to have representation from each of UMB’s seven schools, as well as representatives from central administrative offices.

Working group meetings will be held once every two months, for a total of six meetings each year. Meetings last one hour, and some work outside of bimonthly meetings will be required.

Brief descriptions of each group are below:

  • Reduction: Mitigating UMB's environmental impact by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from utilities, commuting, air travel, waste, and other sources.
  • Resiliency: Implementing smart growth and adapting design to prepare for, recover from, and adapt to the changing climate at UMB.
  • Engagement & Education: Incorporating sustainability into curricula and finding and implementing ways to effectively communicate sustainability projects and initiatives to the campus community.
    • Green Labs Sub-Group: Implementing a Green Labs program on campus to reduce the environmental impact of research lab spaces.

You can sign up to participate in one or more working groups using this form.
