Martin Appointed to NCLEX Readiness Role
May 15, 2020Kathleen M. Martin, DNP, RN, CNE, assistant professor, has been appointed to a new faculty position in UMSON’s Institute for Educators. In this new role, she will be working to strengthen NLCLEX readiness in UMSON’s entry-level programs and will also focus on Next Generation NCLEX readiness.
Martin will be primarily responsible for assessment and development of the School’s faculty and student support services in terms of Next-Gen NCLEX readiness and will work with program leadership and strengthen faculty capacity to ensure that content, teaching strategies, learning activities, and assessment reflect and align with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing clinical judgment model to ensure student preparedness for NCLEX success post-graduation.
Martin has been a faculty member at UMSON since 2015; prior to that, she served as a clinical instructor and then a professor at Frederick Community College after serving as a clinical instructor at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville. She brought more than 20 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical and research nursing to her role as a nurse educator.
At UMSON, she has served as a course director for two different courses throughout her entire tenure. She also serves on several Faculty Council committees and as chair of the Entry-Level Curriculum Committee. Last fall, she was honored with the Maryland Nurses Association’s Stierle Exemplary Service Award. Until last November, served as committee chair for the association’s Continuing Education Provider Unit.
