The final round of the competition takes place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in the Ceremonial Court Room at the School of Law. A small reception with food and drinks will follow the announcement of the winner in the Krongard Board Room.

The annual Morris Brown Myerowitz Moot Court competition is one of the most prestigious intra-school competitions offered for law students at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.

Second-year day, second-year evening, and third-year evening students participating in the Morris Brown Myerowitz Moot Court Competition are required to research and write a two-issue appellate brief and to participate in one or more rounds of oral argument. There are a total of four rounds in this single-elimination competition. Each participant argues one of the positions; if the participant advances to the next round, he or she will usually argue a different position from the previous round. The briefs and oral argument scores carry various weights throughout the four rounds, and the scores determine which participants advance to the next round. Students who advance to the semi-final and final rounds will have an opportunity to argue before distinguished members of the legal community, including judges and alumni.

This year’s final round will be judged by the Honorable Stephanie A. Gallagher and the Honorable Paul W. Grimm — both judges on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the Honorable Andrea M. Leahy of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
