Inauguration of Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, as UMB's Seventh President

Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, was inaugurated as the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) seventh president Friday, Nov. 5.

Jarrell, who became interim president in January 2020 and was selected as UMB’s permanent president in September 2020, succeeded Jay A. Perman, MD, the University System of Maryland (USM) chancellor who was in attendance and presided over the official investiture along with USM Board of Regents chair Linda R. Gooden, MBA.

Other attendees included members of Jarrell’s family, the deans of UMB’s seven schools, administrative officers, and government, industry, and academic leaders from around the state.
