Year of the Nurse Logo

UMSON proudly celebrates 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and honors the pivotal role that nurses play in providing evidence-based, empathetic health care in Maryland, nationwide, and around the globe.

Now more than ever, as the world faces extraordinary health challenges, nurses are leading the way.

In commemoration of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday, the World Health Organization has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, a celebration of nurses and midwives around the world who collectively constitute nearly 50% of the global health workforce.

We always honor and appreciate you, our alumni, students, faculty and staff, and nurses worldwide, but we do so especially as you rise to the daunting challenges of this pandemic.

Students, faculty, and staff, let your voice be heard!
