I hope that your semester is off to a great start. I am writing to remind you that your safety is a top priority at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Security procedures are in place to increase the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Accordingly, a photo ID is required to enter the School of Nursing building on the Baltimore campus. In addition, the UMB Public Safety office is asking everyone — faculty, staff, and students — to swipe their OneCard whenever they enter a UMB building.

In the near future, we will be installing card readers on either side of the security desk that will allow you to swipe your OneCard once you have entered the building. Until those card readers are available, please swipe your OneCard at the card reader on the brick column outside and to the right of the main Baltimore entrance.

Anyone without a OneCard must show a photo ID and sign in and out at the guard’s desk. This is not optional.

Our security guards are our partners in promoting a safe and secure school environment. Please treat them, as well as others, with the highest respect and comply with the security guard’s requests. Thank you.
