School of Social Work building

Join the President's Symposium from 4 p.m. to 5 pm. Nov. 22 as we explore the creation, implementation, and impact of the School of Social Work's online course, A Brief History of Oppression and Resistance.

Launched in the summer of 2020, the course teaches students how “historical and contemporary forms of structural oppression and racism target Black individuals and communities in Baltimore City.” Developed as a required online course for all new Social Work students, this course focuses on developing future social workers’ abilities to confront injustice and raise awareness for anti-Blackness and discrimination.

During this session, the President’s Symposium is excited to welcome faculty from the School of Social Work as they share their insight into the course’s development and how diversity, equity, and inclusion can be infused into the academic curriculum.
