Interested in developing your skills in helping children and youth identify and regulate emotions, use active communication for problem-solving, and grow pro-social skills and behaviors in a supportive and fun learning environment?

The Institute for Innovation and Implementation at the University of Maryland School of Social Work is looking for participants for a mock parent education and support group. The mock group will provide trained staff the opportunity to practice facilitating Parenting Through Change-Reunification (PTC-R) groups.

PTC-R is designed to serve families in the child welfare system who are working toward reunification. However, participants in this mock group will find that the focus skills are applicable to many personal and professional roles supporting children’s growth and development. Learn more about it here: https://www.generationpmto.org/factsheets.

The group will meet virtually for 90 minutes each week for 10 weeks. All adults are welcome to participate. Participants who are not parents will be asked to serve in a mock parent role.

Please contact Laura Teetermoran, training program manager, Child Welfare Academy, at lteetermoran@ssw.umaryland.edu for more information.
