January 28, 2021The Thurgood Marshall Law Library welcomes back returning students and welcomes incoming students for the spring 2021 semester at Maryland Carey Law. [Watch the spring 2021 welcome message from Jason Hawkins, interim director of the Law Library and head of research services.]
At the start of the semester, the Law Library building will be closed, but library services and resources are available online and through a pickup service. Read on to learn how you can take advantage of the Law Library's virtual and extended services such as curbside pickup or virtual reference this semester. We're online for you.
Study space in the Law Library: Assigned study space in the Law Library will be available beginning Feb. 8, 2021, for current JD and LLM students. Dates of availability are subject to change based on COVID-19 conditions and guidelines.
Due to UMB’s COVID-related physical distancing policies, the library’s capacity will be significantly limited. We hope this will benefit those of you who lack an appropriate study environment at home. If you have an adequate area to study at home, please don’t request space in the library.
If you would like to request an assigned space in the Law Library, please follow our instructions to request assigned Law Library study spaces, which include a request form, and more information on required COVID-19 testing, daily SAFE reporting, Law Library hours, and other program requirements. Priority will be given to requests received by Thursday, Feb. 4.
Alternatively, the Health Sciences and Human Services Library building is open Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Curbside pickup: Information about how to request and borrow materials can be found on our Guide to COVID-19 and Law Library Services and Resources.
Accessing library resources remotely: Law students may access many of the Law Library's resources remotely, including databases, online journals, research guides, and ebooks.
