Student ADA Accommodations
August 06, 2021The UMB Office of Educational Support and Disability Services (ESDS) works with students with all types of disabilities including physical, learning, sensory, psychological, ADHD, and chronic and acute medical conditions.
ESDS collaborates with UMB students, faculty, and staff to facilitate academic success and to make education accessible regardless of ability, following the guidance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Students use the process ESDS has developed to request accommodations under the ADA.
The School and ESDS determine which accommodations are needed and are feasible in light of curricular requirements. Once a student’s accommodations are approved by the School, the specific details listed in the accommodation notice should be followed. In the interest of fairness to all, special exceptions or modifications in implementing accommodations should not be made without discussing changes with either Ann Mech or Susan Wozenski, the School’s liaisons to ESDS.
ESDS and the School should be notified if a student wants to waive all or part of an approved accommodation.
