The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) would like to invite you to apply for the Stueber Scholarship 2021. Created from the generous donation of our distinguished alumni, Kristin Stueber, MD, the scholarship's goal is to foster a budding interest in clinical research for the medical students of UMB. To be taken in the summer between M1 and M2, the recipient(s) will work closely with the Plastics department to develop key skills in medical research, data analysis, and journal writing.

The Scholarship

  • A 10-week paid scholarship between May 23 and July 29, 2022
  • A stipend of about $1,500 per recipient, to be paid on completion of the scholarship
  • Inclusion of one week of leave taken at the discretion of the recipient(s)
  • The focus to be on clinical or translational research in Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery
  • The aim of producing at least one (1) first authorship paper and further secondary authorship papers within the department

The Application

  • The applicant must be a current M1 at UMB during the academic year of 2021-2022
  • Provide an up-to-date clinical CV

  • Provide a cover letter outlining interests in plastics surgery and previous relevant experience in clinical or nonclinical research

  • The recipients will be informed of the outcome of the application by Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021

Notes

  • Any publications produced using the work from this scholarship must declare the contribution of the Stueber Scholarship in its final manuscript
  • In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the degree of on-site research will be subject to public health guidelines at the time and may be balanced with distance research
