The UMB ICTR/CTSA TL1 Program is a collaborative effort among seven University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) schools (School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, School of Social Work, School of Law, and the Graduate School) and the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP).

Funding for UMB scholars is provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), a partnership between UMB and Johns Hopkins University or, internally, by UMB institutional funds. UMCP scholars will be funded by UMCP institutional funds.

The mission of the TL1 Program is to select candidates who, with proper career development and clinical translational research training, have potential to become independently funded, successful, and ethical clinical investigators.

The duration of the TL1 Pre-doctoral Program is one year.

The duration of the TL1 Post-Doctoral Program is two years.
