The Future of Nursing 2020 - 2030 Highlights and Recommendations

On May 11, 2021, the National Academy of Medicine published the highly anticipated report on The Future of Nursing 2020 - 2030.
This publication explores how nurses can work to reduce health disparities and promote equity while keeping costs at bay, utilizing technology, and maintaining patient and family-focused care. Several of the report’s final recommendations relate directly to nursing education, including calls to prepare nurses to address the social determinants of health and achieve health equity; promoting nurse health and well-being; and removing barriers that prevent nurses from practicing to the full extent of their education.
