ICTR 2020 KL2 and TL1 Scholars Announced
June 24, 2020The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) wishes to congratulate the awardees of the 2020 round of applications for the KL2 Mentored Career Development Award and TL1 Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Awards.
Junior faculty and predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows from all seven UMB schools (Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, and the Graduate School) were invited to apply for this award.
UMB KL2 awards are designed to develop the next generation of clinical investigators, guiding scholars toward independent clinical research careers. The UMB KL2 program provides mentored career development to outstanding junior faculty who have recently completed professional training and are performing high-impact translational and/or clinical research.
Scholars receive up to three years of support with access to multidisciplinary mentorship, formal coursework, and professional development opportunities. The KL2 program is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA).
The TL1 Training Program is part of the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) program. Funding for three awardees is provided by the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA). One additional awardee was funded internally by ICTR. The purpose of the TL1 Awards is to support the training of biomedical, behavioral, and clinical researchers through individual training across all UMB schools.
The UMB ICTR CTSA KL2 Mentored Career Development Program is led by the director, Rose Viscardi, MD, and associate director, Graziela Kalil, PharmD.
The UMB ICTR TL1 Clinical Research Training Program is led by the director, Luana Colloca, MD, PhD, MS, and associate director, Graziela Kalil, PharmD.
