UMMC South Entrance

As the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) continues preparations for construction on the Roslyn and Leonard Stoler Center for Advanced Medicine, the South Entrance (Gudelsky Building Entrance) will be remodeled to serve as the new main entrance to the hospital during that construction. This remodeling will require the closure of the South Entrance from March 24 through Aug. 20, 2021.

In advance of the upcoming work, preparations are underway, including the relocation of the Radiation Oncology Waiting Room and shuttle services. As contractors begin laying the foundations, this work may impact vehicular and pedestrian traffic and transportation flow in the area.

South Entrance Closure Starting March 24

  • Patients/care partners (visitors) who typically enter via the South Entrance will enter via the Main Entrance at the corner of West Baltimore and Greene streets between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. The Main Entrance is locked during evening hours but security will be present in case of an emergency.
  • Care partners (visitors) entering overnight (9 p.m. - 5 a.m.) will now enter at the Shock Trauma Entrance located near the corner of Lombard and Penn streets.
  • The Radiation Oncology Waiting room currently located below the bridge will be moved so no occupants will be directly below the area of construction.
  • The sidewalks surrounding this corner will be accessible throughout construction.

UMMC will continue to communicate updates as work progresses. We appreciate your patience during construction.

Shuttle Drop-Off Relocation Starting March 15

  • The Camden Yards Staff parking shuttle will drop off at the Paca Pratt Building, on the top of the Medical Center garage off of Greene Street. Team members can enter via the new staff entrance on Lombard Street.
  • Shuttles from Midtown/Heritage Crossing, Upper Chesapeake, and Mount Washington Pediatric will drop off at the Shock Trauma Entrance.
  • The Arena Staff parking shuttle will drop off at the rear entrance to the hospital where the Saratoga/Lexington shuttle currently drops off.
