‘University Days’ Gives USM Students, Employees Access to Mass Vaccination Sites
April 26, 2021Since the state of Maryland has made the COVID-19 vaccines available to all residents age 16 and older, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and the Maryland Department of Health have identified “University Days” at mass vaccination sites around Maryland to provide access for University System of Maryland (USM) students, faculty, and staff.
The University Days initiative follows an April 23 mandate from USM that all eligible students, faculty, and staff who will be on campus this fall must be vaccinated against COVID-19. (USM also said it will comply with all federal and state laws in granting appropriate exemptions for medical or religious reasons.)
Members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) community, including students, faculty, and staff, can directly access vaccination appointments at these sites (see below for information).
It is important to act promptly because the University Days opportunity for appointments also is available to others throughout Maryland. To register for an appointment on those dates, visit massvax.maryland.gov, and enter the respective passcode when prompted to enter a ZIP code. Then, select the desired vaccination site. Finally, choose an appointment date and time to register.

The above passcodes are unique to this University Days opportunity and are only to be used by USM community members. Students, faculty, and staff will be expected to show their campus ID at their scheduled appointment time. Additionally, incoming and new students are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity. In lieu of a student ID, they can provide an acceptance letter or a copy of their fall registration. Please note that any students under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
MHEC will continue to announce additional University Days at other mass vaccination sites throughout Maryland as they become available. If these University Days do not work for employees’ or students’ schedules, MHE encourages all Marylanders to preregister for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a state-run mass vaccination site at covidvax.maryland.gov or by calling the COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center at 1-855-MDGOVAX.
Appointments for UMB community members also are available at the University’s SMC Campus Center Vaccination Clinic. Go to GetTheVaccineBaltimore.org to schedule an appointment.
