Bennett Appointed to NCLEX Readiness Role
September 06, 2022 UMSONUMSON has appointed DeNiece Bennett, DNP, RN, assistant professor, as Next Generation NCLEX faculty success leader.
DeNiece Bennett, DNP, RN, assistant professor, has been appointed to serve as UMSON's Next Generation NCLEX faculty success leader. She is a nurse educator who has a strong foundation in adult learning pedagogy, experience in teaching clinical judgment, and experience with pre-licensure students and faculty. She is well versed in Next Generation NCLEX changes and has familiarity with various vendors who support student NCLEX preparation.
In this role, initiated two and a half years ago to strengthen NCLEX readiness in UMSON’s entry-level programs, Bennett will be primarily responsible for the assessment and development of the school’s faculty and student support services related to Next-Generation NCLEX readiness. She will also work with entry-level program leadership and strengthen faculty capacity to ensure that content, teaching strategies, learning activities, and assessment reflect and align with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s clinical judgment model to ensure student preparedness for NCLEX success post-graduation.
Bennett has been an UMSON assistant professor at the Universities at Shady Grove since 2020 and is the course director for the “Complex Nursing Care of Patients with Co-Morbid Conditions” course and co-faculty lead on UMSON's Student Affairs Committee. She will continue to teach at USG while joining the Department of Partnerships, Professional Education, and Practice as a member of the Institute for Educators.
Bennett brings significant clinical experience to her roles, having served as a staff nurse, charge nurse, nursing supervisor, and director of nursing for hospitals and health care systems in New York state, as well as a nursing instructor and clinical nurse educator. She earned her AAS in Nursing from SUNY Orange in New York, her BSN and MSN in Nursing Education from South University in Georgia, and her DNP in Healthcare Systems and Leadership from Chamberlain University.
Her education coupled with her clinical and teaching experience and her support of entry-level nursing students positions her well to lead UMSON toward further Next-Gen NCLEX success.
