Michael Lepore

UMSON professor will serve as associate director within ICTR Community and Collaboration Core.


The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UMB ICTR) are pleased to announce that Michael Lepore, PhD, professor in UMSON's Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health and co-director of UMSON's Center for Healthy Equity and Outcomes Research center of excellence, will be joining the ICTR team as associate director within the ICTR Community and Collaboration Core.
 
Lepore is a nationally and internationally renowned researcher with over 20 years of experience focusing on the prevalence of people with dementia. As co-director of CHEOR, he will encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion in the culture and practice of research; help coordinate interdisciplinary and multi-principal investigator research proposals, center proposals, and training grants; and help evaluate preproposals. Lepore contributed his expertise in long-term care and dementia care research and capacity development by co-authoring over 40 journal articles, multiple books, and books chapters, as well as technical reports. He is the principal investigator on two active grants and a consultant on an active R01.
 
The UMB ICTR is a campuswide clinical and translational research initiative supported by UMB and the University of Maryland Medical System. It provides financial support as well as infrastructure, environment, training, and work force development to invigorate, facilitate, and accelerate clinical and translational research to improve patient and community health.
