When recording a virtual meeting, event, or class, it’s important to provide oral notice at the beginning of the session that it will be recorded. This is in accordance with Maryland’s all-party consent law.
Webex, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams automatically announce that a session is being recorded, and a red “Recording” icon will appear throughout the session. However, it’s still important to make attendees aware that they will be recorded.
UMB’s IT Acceptable Use Policy reviews and defines acceptable use, and specifically includes a section on “Electronic Communication, Remote Teaching and Recording UMB Activities.”
