Twelve coaches and 61 eager staff and faculty participants representing schools and offices across campus are taking part in the program, which recently held its virtual orientation.

This month, the UMBrella Coaching Program launched its fifth cohort with a team of 12 incredible coaches and 61 eager staff and faculty participants representing schools and offices across campus

During the virtual orientation, new participants had a chance to hear program reflections from two of the program’s alum: Jana Anderson (cohort 4), director, Human Resources, Institute for Genome Sciences, School of Medicine, and Karen L. Gordes, PhD, PT, DSc, (cohort 2), chief learning officer and associate professor, Physician Assistant Leadership Learning Academy (PALLA), Graduate School.

Anderson inspired the new cohort with her testimony of achieving the goal she set when she started the program: to boost her self-confidence in the workplace. “I’ve been taking opportunities to step outside of my comfort zone and talking myself through it.” She advised the women to take it all in, take notes, and engage with their coaching peers.

Gordes encouraged those embarking on their new adventure to "take full advantage of this unique opportunity of being surrounded by empowered women.”

See their personal reflections in this week’s Elm Weekly.

Over the next eight months, program participants will engage in coaching group discussions, a lineup of panel discussions, presentations, and a networking mixer. Best of luck to the women on their new journey of personal and professional development!
