Ameera Chakravarthy, PhD '22, RN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, assistant professor and director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist specialty, attended all five days of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Baltimore Area Council Piedmont Adventure Day Camp, June 19 - 23 at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster, Maryland, to teach scouts and youth leaders (ages 7 and up) about cleaning wounds and applying bandages, covering topics including treating insect bites, creating splints and slings, making stretchers with T-shirts/blankets, treating burns, making a first aid kit, applying moleskin for blisters, and more.

Chakravarthy's son is a Boy Scout, and Chakravarthy serves as the Pack 706 committee chair.

UMSON (through Amy Daniels, PhD ’18, MS ’12, BSN ’89, RN, CHSE-A, assistant professor and director of the Clinical Simulation Labs) lent Chakravarthy and the BSA three wound models.

Thank you for the support given by Daniels and her team to make teaching first aid a fun experience!
