Crystal DeVance-Wilson

Crystal DeVance-Wilson, PhD '19, MS '06, MBA, BSN '00, PHCNS-BC, assistant professor, has been appointed vice chair of the University of Maryland School of Nursing at the Universities at Shady Grove. She assumed the role June 1.

As the director of the Maryland Nursing Workforce Center at UMSON, chair of the Montgomery County Commission on Health, and past Faculty Council chair, DeVance-Wilson has extensive leadership experience and has demonstrated the ability to collaborate to direct change and implement new initiatives within and outside UMSON. Her expertise and experience will be beneficial as the UMSON programs at USG continue to grow, innovate, and discover.

DeVance-Wilson earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science, and PhD from UMSON, a Bachelor of Arts from Suffolk University in Boston, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. She teaches evidence-based research and coordinates community/public health nursing experiences for entry BSN students. Her research interests are Black men's health, health policy, and health disparities.
