Faculty Leadership Development Program - Cohort 3

Sixteen UMB faculty members participated in a 10-month program to enhance their leadership skills and prepare for career advancement.


The third cohort of the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Faculty Leadership Development Program (FLDP) was honored during a ceremony Nov. 7 at the Gladhill Boardroom in the Health Sciences and Human Services Library.

The 16-member group was recognized for completing a program that aims to enhance the leadership skills of UMB faculty members and prepare them for advancement in their careers. From January to October, the participants met in person and engaged in a range of leadership development activities on topics such as executive presence, diversity and inclusion, hiring and firing, interacting with the media, office politics, conflict resolution, philanthropy, strategic planning, mentoring, and more.

The program’s sessions were held once a month in person in the Gladhill Boardroom and led by facilitators such as UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, and UMB Provost and Executive Vice President Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA, and included remarks from leadership across UMB and the University System of Maryland.
