The students volunteered with nonprofit organization Moveable Feast.

Student registered nurse anesthetists from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing volunteered with Moveable Feast in Baltimore for a day of service on Jan. 22.

Moveable Feast, a nonprofit organization founded in 1989, is committed to providing medically tailored meals and nutritional education to Baltimore City residents living with chronic diseases such as HIV, cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The mission and work of Moveable Feast has expanded beyond Baltimore to include service to residents on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Volunteering with Moveable Feast rings true with UMSON’s commitment and dedication to the profession of nursing. As nurses, we believe food is medicine for people with chronic diseases, so taking time to serve the community by packaging thoughtfully prepared meals is consistent with this belief. The experience was very rewarding for all of us.

The UMSON students who participated are:

  • Rebecca Brave
  • Allison Hamilton
  • Jae Kim
  • Diamond Robinson
  • Keiandra Smith
