FLDP Cohort 4

Fifteen UMB faculty members participated in a 10-month program to enhance their leadership skills and prepare for career advancement. Applications for the sixth cohort will open in spring 2025.

The fourth cohort of the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Faculty Leadership Development Program (FLDP) was honored during a ceremony on Nov. 19 at the Gladhill Boardroom in the Health Sciences and Human Services Library.

The 15-member group was recognized for completing this program, which is designed to enhance the leadership skills of UMB faculty members and prepare them for career advancement. From January to October, the participants met in person and engaged in a range of leadership development activities covering topics such as executive presence, diversity and inclusion, hiring and firing, interacting with the public, office politics, conflict resolution, philanthropy, strategic planning, mentoring, and more.

The program’s sessions were held once a month in person in the Gladhill Boardroom and led by facilitators including UMB President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, UMB Provost and Executive Vice President Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA, and senior leaders across UMB.

The fifth iteration of FLDP will begin on Jan. 16, 2025. Applications for the sixth cohort, which will run from January to November 2026, will open in spring 2025.
