As we move forward in 2025, we find ourselves facing a challenging landscape marked by budget reductions, funding shortfalls, potential layoffs, and various cost-saving measures. Recent executive orders at the federal level have further contributed to the uncertainty we are experiencing as a community. We want to take a moment to acknowledge these difficulties and assure you that we are committed to navigating these turbulent times together. We are dedicated to supporting our employees through various programs designed to enhance well-being, resilience, and professional growth. As a reminder, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) offers the following:

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential counseling and support services provided by ComPscyh GuidanceResources, to help employees manage stress, anxiety, and personal challenges.
    • Five free counseling sessions per issue per year for employees and their household members. To access, call 855-410-7628.
    • Free webinars/articles on topics like stress and anger management, personal safety, emotional well-being, addiction, grief and loss, and more.
    • In-person EAP Information Session scheduled for Monday, May 19, at noon. Join us to learn more about all the Employee Assistance Program has to offer! Additional details to be shared in the coming weeks.
  • Launch Your Life — UMB’s Well-Being Program:
  • State Wellness Resources: Free access to recorded webinars covering mental and emotional well-being and guided meditation. Wellness Home

    • United Healthcare (UHC)
      • Calm Health app: Mindfulness content and programs created by psychologists.
      • Wellness Coaching: Lifestyle coaching helps identify opportunities to improve your health and well-being in your daily life, like stress management and healthy eating.
      • UHC Behavioral Health: Access behavioral health support services that are available to you and your family anytime, anywhere.
      • Live and Work Well: Receive crisis support and check out tools and programs, as well as search for a mental health provider.  
  • Percipio e-Learning Platform: Online courses designed to enhance skills and knowledge, offering flexible scheduling and expert-led instruction to support continuous learning and professional growth.

In these uncertain times, it is crucial that we support one another and work collaboratively to overcome the challenges we face.
