Food items on a shelf

The pantry provides access to nonperishable snacks and shelf-stable meals. There are no income requirements and no verification needed to receive support.

In response to the U.S. federal government shutdown, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has launched the UMB Employee Pantry, a temporary resource to help employees access shelf-stable snacks and groceries during this period of uncertainty.

The UMB Employee Pantry was developed in collaboration with the UMB Student Pantry but separately funded as a temporary resource for UMB employees. The pantry provides access to nonperishable snacks and shelf-stable groceries. There are no income requirements and no verification needed to receive support.

Employees can place pantry orders through a secure online platform. When your order is ready, you will receive instructions to pick up your order from the SMC Campus Center. The pantry offers a selection of halal, kosher, vegan, vegetarian, and other shelf-stable options while supplies last.

Additional Support Resources

Employees seeking further assistance may also find support through state and regional partners:

Finally, UMB employees have access to the Employee Assistance Program, a confidential 24/7 support service offering counseling, financial guidance, legal advice, work-life resources, and more.

At a time when many are feeling the effects of uncertainty, the UMB community continues to show up for one another — with care, dignity, and support.
