Dr. Jarrell

Virtual graduation includes video messages from UMB Interim President Bruce Jarrell, University System Chancellor Jay Perman, and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) 2020 Commencement celebration, originally scheduled for May 14 at Royal Farms Arena, was canceled because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Instead, the University is celebrating a virtual graduation, complete with messages from UMB Interim President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS; University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay A. Perman, MD; and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.

The student speaker, Shi “Porter” Yang of the Francis King Carey School of Law, also delivers a video message (read his speech here), and a School of Medicine a cappella group, the Hippocratic Notes, performs the national anthem.
