Outlook

Cortana and My Analytics emails have started to appear in our inboxes. Read more to learn about these features and how to utilize them.

On April 21, 2021, the Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) enabled additional Office 365 features for all faculty and staff whose account resides with the CITS-managed Office 365 tenant. Once enabled, automated emails will be sent by the Cortana and MyAnalytics services on a daily and weekly basis, respectively. To understand more about these features, please see below:

Cortana Briefing

The Cortana Briefing is a daily email that helps you stay in control of your calendar and be intentional about your day. Within two hours of your workday (as set up in Outlook), you will receive an email about any relevant items to help you better prepare for the day ahead, including:

  • Outstanding commitments, requests, and follow-ups to and from other collaborators in email that might have fallen through the cracks.
  • Documents related to today’s meetings that you might want to review beforehand.
  • Suggested focus time you can schedule to help get independent work done.

MyAnalytics

Microsoft MyAnalytics provides insights into your work patterns around focus, network, well-being, and collaboration over the past four weeks.  These insights show observations and trends of your most recent activities in the Office 365 cloud. MyAnalytics also powers the Insights feature seen in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams.

Only you can see your MyAnalytics data. The statistics and insights generated are based upon your Office 365 activity and are only visible by you. Your manager and IT administrators cannot view your personal MyAnalytics data.

You can opt out of weekly MyAnalytics digest emails by following these steps:

  1. Open your MyAnalytics dashboard.
  2. Select the Settings (gear) icon at the top right.
  3. Under MyAnalytics, select Settings.
  4. Under Weekly digest, change the setting to Off.
  5. Select Save to save your changes.
