Fellows will become part of an expanding network of faculty, staff, students, and community leaders who are advancing community engagement scholarship and education at UMB.

The Interprofessional Program in Academic Community Engagement (IPACE) welcomes its inaugural 2020-2021 cohort of fellows to the Fellows Program in Community Engagement. IPACE is supported by University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) transformational funding and is based in the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. The program facilitates community engagement at UMB in collaboration with UMB’s Office of Community Engagement.

The Fellows Program in Community Engagement will facilitate and promote the development of UMB faculty, staff, students, and community leaders to strengthen community engagement through education, scholarship, research, or community based programs or practice. This fellowship will provide training on principles of community-academic partnerships, the pedagogy of service-learning, application of social determinants of health and social justice frameworks, and competencies for interprofessional education.

During the one-year fellowship, participating fellows will become part of an expanding network of faculty, staff, students, and community leaders who are advancing community engagement scholarship and education at UMB, through the lens of promoting health equity. The coordinated program will support sustainable and innovative educational strategies that focus on the principles of service-learning and community engagement by working collaboratively with community leaders and community based organizations in our Baltimore communities.
