DNP 15th identity

As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program — among the first in the nation — watch a new video about our DNPs’ leadership visions for the future.

UMSON was among the first schools in the nation to offer advanced practice education at the doctoral level, introducing its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program 15 years ago. We now count 660 DNPs among our alumni. However, our role in advanced practice nursing goes back many decades and is reflected in the impressive careers and leadership roles of myriad alumni across multiple programs.

On Oct. 7, we celebrated the 15th anniversary of our DNP program with a special virtual event, LEADING THE V15ION, which brought together faculty, staff, students, alumni, practice partners, and friends nationwide to recognize the important milestone. Remarks were offered by:

  • Janet Allan, PhD, RN, FAAN, UMSON dean emerita
  • Joan M. Stanley, PhD, MS ’78, CRNP, FAAN, FAANP, chief academic officer, American Association of Colleges of Nursing
  • Anne Williams, DNP ’12, MS ’86, BSN ’82, RN, then senior director of community and population health, University of Maryland Medical System, who presented on how to combat vaccine hesitancy.

In addition, we debuted a video, below, that captures our DNP alumni, faculty, and students’ leadership visions for the future of health care.

Students, faculty, and staff, let your voice be heard!
