Passwords set under the new policy will no longer expire or need to be changed unless they are forgotten or compromised.
UMB soon will be dramatically changing the password requirements for employees and students.
The new UMB password policy will simply require that passwords have a minimum length of 12 characters and pass a quality check to ensure the password hasn’t been previously compromised or could be easily guessed. Additionally, passwords set under the new policy will no longer expire or need to be changed unless they are forgotten or compromised. The new policy will take effect the next time a password is changed.
Details on a go-live date of the new policy will be shared in the coming weeks.
