Holiday Masks-Hanukkah

With few exceptions, a face covering must be worn at all times while on the UMB campus or at an off-campus location occupied by members of the University community.

It has been established that the practice of wearing face coverings is vital to control the spread of COVID-19, so the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has adopted a mask policy in the interest of minimizing the risk of the spread of COVID-19 among students, faculty, staff, clients, and others coming to campus.

Here's a look at the policy and its scope, followed by a link to learn more about the policy, including noncompliance ramifications and exceptions, and to see a video promoting the policy.

Policy

With few exceptions, a face covering must be worn at all times while on the UMB campus or at an off-campus location occupied by UMB community members (e.g., Universities at Shady Grove, Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center, Columbus Center, etc.). UMB’s campus is defined as including all property owned, leased, or operated by UMB. This includes outdoor and indoor locations including all buses or shuttles operated by UMB.

Scope

This policy applies to students, faculty and staff, campus visitors, volunteers, clients and patients, and campus contractors and their employees. This policy does not apply to patients who are subject to other policies related to face coverings or masks.
