Why I Got the COVID-19 Booster
December 21, 2021 Joanne MorrisonLaura Hager, editorial and public/media relations specialist at the School of Nursing, did so to protect herself, her family, and friends over the holiday season.
The COVID-19 booster vaccine is the best way to protect against serious illness, particularly for those with underlying health conditions. This is why Laura Hager, editorial and public/media relations specialist at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, received the booster vaccine.
“I have an underlying medical condition, so I consulted my doctor and got my COVID-19 booster very early on when they first began administering them,” Hager said.
As cases rise across the state and hospitals are reaching capacity, infectious disease experts say that getting a booster shot is the best way to prevent spread and serious illness. Hager took these steps to protect herself, her family, and friends.
“I feel safer knowing I have an extra layer of protection, and it is reassuring to know that my family and friends, who have also had the booster, will be safer when we spend time together over the holiday season,” Hager said.
