Why I Got the COVID-19 Booster
January 05, 2022 UMB Communications and Public AffairsKaila Noland, University Student Government Association vice president, got the booster because she felt it was her duty to protect her community.
University of Maryland Graduate School student Kaila Noland was vaccinated with the COVID-19 booster shot because she felt it was a duty to protect her community.
"I got the COVID booster not only as a way to protect myself, my friends, and my family, but also because I feel it’s a duty to my community to protect them as well,” said Noland, University Student Government Association vice president.
She added that there are other critical safeguards to help stop the spread of COVID-19. “The best way for us to say safe here at UMB is to get your COVID booster, keep following the mask mandates, follow social distancing, and by making sure that if you don’t feel well, you stay home and you quarantine until you know whether or not you have COVID,” she said.
Across the state, cases are on the rise and hospitals are reaching capacity. Vaccine and infectious disease experts say that getting a booster shot is the best way to prevent spread and serious illness.
