Director of Community Engagement Center gives overview of services and programs offered while discussing building’s history and more.

A few of the women involved in the current and previous cohorts of the UMBrella Coaching Program recently signed up for a group tour of UMB’s new Community Engagement Center (CEC). It was a great opportunity for them to meet in person as the program’s activities for the past two years have been mostly virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CEC’s director, Tyrone Roper, MSW, led the tour, sharing a bit of the building’s history and an in-depth overview of the CEC’s mission to support its neighbors. The group got a glimpse of the three floors of space and all the center has to offer to the community, including support services, access to technology, and spoken-word sessions for youth, to name a few.

The CEC tour will be an added activity for future program cohorts to learn more about UMB’s investment in West Baltimore.
