Amy Jackson

PhD student presents poster at Gerontological Society of America 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting.

Amy Jackson, a third-year PhD student, took the stage at the Gerontological Society of America 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting in Tampa, Florida, on Nov. 9.

She presented a poster on her research, conducted in collaboration with her mentor, Joan Carpenter, PhD, CRNP, ACHPN, FPCN, assistant professor, titled "Health-Related Social Needs and Treatment Preferences of Older Adults with Serious Illness." Her study dives into the literature on unmet health-related social needs and aims to provide valuable recommendations for research, practice, and policy. These insights will help researchers and clinicians better understand the impact of social needs on palliative and end-of-life care decisions.

Jackson's work not only identifies challenges but also offers practical solutions to help individuals make informed decisions about their preferred treatments, regardless of their social circumstances.
