Danielle Harris, LCSW-C

Harris has been named director of UMB Community Engagement Operations.


Danielle Harris, LCSW-C, has been named the new director of Community Engagement Operations for the UMB Office of Community Engagement. Previously the associate director for the Community Engagement Center (CEC), Harris most recently served as interim director of the Community Engagement Center. Harris has also worked with the Social Work Community Outreach Service (SWCOS), now the Center for Restorative Change, at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and as a community school coordinator at Harlem Park Elementary/Middle School.

Originally from Windsor, Conn., Harris received her bachelor’s in sociology from Spelman College in Atlanta. From Atlanta, Harris moved to Baltimore to attend the University of Maryland School of Social Work, where she received her Master of Social Work with a concentration in management and community organization, and a minor in clinical social work with a specialization in social action and community development. Her accomplishments during her tenure as associate director include the establishment of the CEC’s annual Juneteenth Jubilee community celebration, and the receipt of an Honorable Mention for the 2022-2023 University System of Maryland Board of Regents Staff Awards, for the category extraordinary public service to the University or greater community.
