Associate Professor Darren Whitfield and colleagues published a new article on the use of social media by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth adults to offer social support in JMIR Formative Research. We conducted qualatitive interviews with 52 adults ages 18 and 30 years old. Our findings suggest Black and Hispanic young adults exhibited a preference for connecting with individuals who shared similar identities, seeking safety and tailored advice.
