UMSSW's Jay Unick featured in overdose article by Scientific American.


According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), provisional data shows that overdose deaths have decreased since last fall. However, overdose deaths are still at a high rate, with more than 102,000 over the past 12 months.

There are a variety of hypothesized reasonings behind this decline. Assistant Professor, Jay Unick of the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and others discuss this topic in the Scientific American article, “Overdose Deaths Are Finally Starting to Decline. Here’s Why.”
