Nadine Finigan-Carr Recognizes as Public Health Social Worker of the Year by the American Public Health Association (APHA)


Congratulations Nadine Finigan-Carr, Executive Director of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Center for Violence Prevention and Research Professor  at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, for being recognized as the Public Health Social Worker of the Year by the American Public Health Association (APHA).  The APHA’s Public Health Social Work Section establishes standards for social work in health care settings and is made up of professionals who play a critical role in promoting and protecting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Nadine is the inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Violence Prevention. The center is a multidisciplinary initiative that seeks to bridge activities across the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and in the community, in a collaborative fashion to conduct community-based participatory research, provide creative and impactful education, and inform and advocate for policies that strengthen our communities to prevent violence and trauma.

Nadine will present at the annual APHA Annual Meeting taking place October 27 – 30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she will also receive this prestigious award.
