Doctoral Student April Cavaletto and Colleagues Published in Trauma, Violence, and Abuse
Doctoral student April Cavaletto and colleagues recently published an article in Trauma, Violence, and Abuse titled "'Healthy Relationships': A Scoping Review of Definitions, Components, and Measures of Healthy Dating Relationships Among Teens and Young Adults."
The research team analyzed publications from 2005 to 2021 for components, measures, and definitions of healthy relationships and, in total, 69 articles were included in the review. While most publications included components of healthy relationships, few included explicit definitions, implying that healthy relationships are implicitly defined by their measurable components. A large number of measures were found in the litearture, though few are repeated across publications. These findings underscore the need for a unified framework of healthy relationships that can guide research and program development.
