Douglas Gyamfi, BSN, PhD student, won the First Place Poster Award at the Southern Gerontological Society conference held April 3 - 6 in Birmingham, Alabama, for his poster, "Staff Level Predictors of Function Focused Care within Long-Term Care Settings." The theme of the conference was "Building Bridges: Collaborations and Communities in Aging."
His poster focused on the theory that care staff who are more physically active themselves may be more likely to implement function-focused care with long-term care residents. He was assisted by Kelly Doran, PhD '11, MS '08, RN, FAAN, associate professor; Barbara Resnick, PhD '96, RN, CRNP, FAAN, FAANP, professor, Sonya Ziporkin Gershowitz Chair in Gerontology, and associate dean for research; Abaneh Ebangwese, BSN, RN, PhD student; and Shijun Zhu, PhD, DrE, professor.
