$4.1 million in NIH funding fuels UMSOD assistant professor’s groundbreaking neuroscience research.
Joyce Da Silva, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, University of Maryland School of Dentistry, has been awarded $4.1 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding to advance two groundbreaking research projects:
- A five-year NIH grant to study how green light therapy may help relieve chronic pain and anxiety
- A four-year NIH grant, in collaboration with UC San Diego, to investigate brain differences linked to individual vulnerability to alcohol use disorder, supporting more personalized treatment approaches
