Lauren Schuyler selected to present at APHSA National Human Services Summit.

Dr. Lauren Schuyler (Family Welfare team, SSW) has been selected to lead a panel at the American Public Human Services Association's National Human Services Summit in June. The session, titled Trauma-Informed Care in TANF: Findings & Innovations from Maryland’s TANF Evaluation, will feature Dr. Schuyler alongside Dr. Andrea Hetling (Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University-New Brunswick) and Ms. Sarina Coates-Golden, (Senior Director, Office of Cash Programs, Maryland Department of Human Services (MDHS).

Together, the panelists will share findings from an exploration of Maryland’s TANF program through a trauma-informed lens. They will also discuss how MDHS's Office of Cash Programs is using this research to incoporate trauma-informed practices into TANF assessment tools and service delivery. The panel will highlight results from a robust mixed-methods study conducted by the Family Welfare team between 2022 and 2024, which integrated interviews, focus groups, surveys, document reviews, and quantitative analyses of administrative data.
