Lisa Berlin

Dr. Lisa Berlin Selected for Prestigious James McKeen Cattell Sabbatical Fund Fellowship.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Lisa Berlin, the Alison L. Richman Professor of Children and Families at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, has been awarded the highly competitive Sabbatical Fund Fellowship from the James McKeen Cattell Fund for 2025-2026.

Dr. Berlin's sabbatical research will advance critical work on infant-caregiver attachment, focusing on two key goals related to the evidence-based Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) program. First, she will analyze data from an ongoing randomized trial examining ABC's impact on health outcomes in low-income Latino families—the largest and fastest-growing segment of the U.S. child population. Second, she will collaborate with local and state organizations to build sustainable capacity for delivering ABC services throughout Baltimore and Maryland.

This fellowship recognizes Dr. Berlin's exceptional contributions to attachment theory, early childhood intervention research, and her commitment to implementing evidence-based programs in publicly funded services such as Early Head Start. Her work continues to shape policies and practices that support early parenting and child development, particularly among vulnerable populations.

Congratulations to Dr. Berlin on this well-deserved recognition.
