Maryland’s First Recovery Cafe Opens in West Baltimore—Powered by UMSSW, BHWEll, and IRIS featured in Baltimore Times.


The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW), in partnership with Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWEll) and Innovations in Recovery through Infrastructure Support (IRIS), is proud to support Maryland’s first Recovery Cafe.

This new Peer Wellness Station serves as a vibrant model of healing and radical hospitality, empowering peer recovery specialists and strengthening community resilience. UMSSW and its partners are driving innovative new solutions in recovery and behavioral health—positive change powered by research and compassionate collaboration.
