University of Maryland Association of Nursing Students hosts menstrual hygiene drive.
The University of Maryland Association of Nursing Students (UMANS) at the Universities at Shady Grove held a donation drive from Oct. 1 - Nov. 1 for "I Support the Girls," for which students could drop new and unused menstrual hygiene products in donation bins around campus.
The mission of "I Support the Girls" is to ensure that "every woman and menstruating person is supported with products that allow them to stand tall with confidence." They do this by providing through partnerships and donations bras, menstrual hygiene products, and essential items to those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or crisis.
UMANS students strive to build holistic, person-centered care. By holding this fundraising drive, UMANS aimed to uplift vulnerable community members, reduce health disparities related to menstrual inequities, and participate in promoting comfort, confidence, and well-being for those in need.
