PhD student Yoonzie Chung publishes a new article in Children and Youth Services Review.

PhD student Yoonzie Chung and a colleague have recently published an article in Children and Youth Services Review, titled “Persistent poverty, poverty mobility, and young adults’ material hardship.”

The study demonstrates that although public assistance targets vulnerable populations, it may fall short in addressing basic needs.

Highlights:
• Government assistance reduced persistent and intergenerational poverty risk.
• Maternal mental health challenges and substance use increased the risk of intergenerational poverty.
• Even with employment and assistance, young adults remain vulnerable to hardship.
